On Saturday 25 April and Sunday 26 April 2020, the annual Heritage Day in Belgium is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Since the first edition in 2001, the Heritage Day brings cultural heritage (with a focus on movable and intangible heritage) in Flanders and Brussels closer to the broad public. Hundreds of museums, archives, heritage libraries, local history circles and countless other heritage organizations and institutions participate every year. All activities, including exhibitions and tours, lectures, demonstrations and workshops, walks, bike rides and shows are free. The organizers of the Heritage Day group these hundreds of free activities around one specific theme. For the festive edition in 2020, Heritage Day has launched the theme 'The Night'. Because the night enchants and is synonymous with imagination. The popular event has a quarter of a million visitors every year. There is a lot to experience throughout the weekend, a celebration for the heritage lover!
