In 2020, Ghent will be home to yet another museum. The brand spanking new Ghent University Museum (GUM) is located at the heart of the Ghent Botanical Garden, right around the corner from MSK Ghent and S.M.A.K. The GUM will be a museum dedicated to science, research and critical thinking, where visitors can discover how science is the result of trial and error, doubt and imagination. The new university museum is set to open its doors to the general public on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2020. The GUM will be a welcome and valuable asset to the Flemish scientific heritage landscape.

ETWIE is very much looking forward to the arrival of this new museum, and will also immediately select the GUM as the location for the 8th annual ETWIE conference, on Saturday 9 May 2020. At the annual ETWIE conference, the Flemish-Brussels community in technical, scientific and industrial heritage comes together around a certain theme. It should come as no surprise that the 2020 conference will focus on research on those types of heritage.
